Vinton Construction Company receives 2009 WisDOT Excellence in Concrete Paving Award Vinton Construction Company was named the outstanding concrete pavement award winner for 2009 by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The award was presented at the annual WisDOT Engineer - Contractor's Conference in Madison and was for work performed on the Northeast Region's State Trunk Highway 114 Project in Winnebago County, 3rd Street, Menasha. According to the WisDOT, "This 2.2 million dollar project provided for a complete reconstruction of the roadway and incorporated several elements of community sensitive design to enhance the inner city neighborhood of Menasha. Vinton used two pavers to place the mainline pavement. This continuous paving accommodated the multiple lane width changes that were required along the project. Vinton scheduled concrete paving operations to eliminate conflicts with scheduled deliveries to businesses and also incorporated use of high early strength concrete at major intersections to minimize impacts to business access. The contractor used an on-site crushing operation to produce aggregate dense material for the project. The mobile crushing operation traveled along the project and crushed the existing material as it progressed. The resultant material met the contract requirements and was produced and placed in a timely manner with minimal impact on the adjacent residents and businesses. This project is an example of the exceptional results that can be achieved with a quality workforce and attention to detail. This project will reduce traffic congestion and thus promote safety, tourism and business development in this area for many years in the future. Accepting the award for Vinton Construction Company were Rich Lamers, Paving Superintendent and Jim Lamers, Area Supervisor on the job." The Wisconsin Ready Mixed Concrete Association will present Vinton Construction Company with the Concrete Design award for 2009 for work completed on 3rd Avenue and Michigan Street, City of Sturgeon Bay, WI. The award will be presented on March 5 at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells. This is Vinton's third award from the WRCA.
